In 1999, Edwin Stanat purchased the building now home to
the TOY AND NASCAR
MUSEUM. It was most recently a blouse factory, but has a rich
history.
The building was 5000 square feet of open space at the time of purchase.
Ed
brought in his team of talented people and together with his guidance of a
"blueprint" in his mind, they created a unique display for all the toys that
Ed had collected over the last 30 years. It took 5 years of hard work,
creating and at times recreating, dropping ceilings, raising walls, but
finally his dream became reality. It took 8 months just to put all the
toys
on display, and to add the final touches on everything.
On March 19th, 2004, Ed opened the doors for the first time! He has
something for everyone to enjoy who walks into this unique world of toys!
Theme displays include pieces you may never see again. It will also
include
toys that stir up memories of days gone by. Every piece having been
placed
on display by Ed himself!!
Ed's desire to collect toys comes from a childhood of little means, and
after 30 years of collecting he finally realized he needed a place to
display his collection. He searched for a building, found it, bought
it and
went to work creating this unique creation, which we are told is one of the
largest private collections on the East Coast.
Ed is a creative, talented man who owns numerous businesses. He is a
self-made man who has gone against the odds and always succeeded. Come
meet
this incredible individual, you'll never forget him!!!
